清爽的透明感，攝影很有空靈的日式風格。加上愛爾蘭
的風景和席格若斯的音樂，絕對不能錯過啊！
話說室友上次跟我說「下一篇影評用英文寫啊」
所以這次就跟你拚了XDDDD
The movie "By Chance" (or "Tamatama in Japanese") is shot in Ireland.
I clearly remember that 聞天祥 said this film is totally "weird" on the
選片指南. Yeah, absolutely! While watching the film, I was always
thinking who is the girl? What is she doing? The story is very special
and original. The strange events in the film would force you to figure out
the meaning that the storyteller is telling you. I have to say, it is really
fascinating-- not only the story itself, also the cinematography and
background music.
At the beginning, it's not that easy to figure out what's happening.
What we saw is Aoi sitting on a boat, and then falls into a lake.
After the falling accident, Aoi begins to visit every house of the country.
Strangely, people would say "This is not for me" to reject Aoi and
send her away.Meanwhile, Aoi acts like a dummy, rather than a real
human. Her journey continues, but she never talks to the villagers.
(I was quite curiousabout this weird interaction between Aoi and
the villagers then.) She meets all kinds of people and encounters all
kinds of strange events. Such as almost being eaten by goats, being
asked to offer papers for a man who is defecating on meadow...
Not until the ending part comes did I realize that everything makes
sense and functions logically. I think, among so many interactions
(even though such interaction does not involvespeaking ;D), there are
two of them impressed me a lot-- the interaction with a young boy
who is a shepherd boy; the other one is the interaction with a man who
can turn emotion into candies.
The shepherd boy teaches Aoi the way to observe the world-- observe
your surroundings by heart. This world worth us to discover for its
greatness... If we care those details in our life enough, I believe our life
could be different.
Another person has unusual interaction with Aoi is the man who can make
candiesfrom his emotions. Aoi wants to try this trick, but in vain. The man
tells her "Only the chosen one could do this. I an the one being chosen to
collect people's emotion to make candies, you must also be chosen for other
mission. Everyone in the world is the chosen one." This scene reminds me
Martin Scorsese's Hugo(2011). Hugo thinks everyone is a small part of the
machine-like world. Therefore, no one lives without his/her purpose. I was
touched by this scene in theatre. We should be confident is ourselves that
we are special, and we are worthy. There must be a reason for us, individuals,
to live on in this world.
After these interactions, Aoi seems to know what is her mission in this world.
She knows very well what should she do now. In the very end of the film, she
stands in front of a house and say "Although I stands far from the house, I know
it is my destiny." She enters the house, and smiles in front of an old man. She is
actually a letter, without any sentence or words, only a sketch of a smiling face...
It is really creative for the director to turn such concrete object into a real human.
In the end, Aoi sai "思念這種東西，抓緊對方還在的時候好好地傳達給他。"
She is a letter, and her mission is to transfer the message of A missing B. I think it's
why she works so hard to find out the old man(receiver of the letter). This concept is
quite similar to a film called Still Walking(橫山家之味, 2011). The man in that film
doesn't tell his feelings to his parents, and he often ignores his family due to works
and other reasons. In the end, his parents pass away, and he hasn't spent enough time
to stay with them and talk with them. Really pity and sad story. As for "By Chance,"
the meaning is quite similar. Being touched by this line, I phoned to my family in
Kaohsiung and told them I love you in theatre. Although my tone is like kidding, but
I really love them very much. I always feel embarrassed to tell others my thoughts
and feelings by speaking, not to mention telling family that I love them. This film
really gave me that courage to do so. Remember to seize the time and tell those
people who are important to you how much you miss them :D
In the end, 我給這部電影的評分是: 88分
